Indian stock markets witnessed a sharp sell-off on Friday as the Sensex plunged nearly 1,500 points and the Nifty slipped below the 23,200 mark. The massive decline wiped out nearly ₹10 lakh crore of investor wealth. Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, surging crude oil prices, a weakening rupee, and continuous selling by foreign investors added pressure on the market.
