Lisa Ortiz is a voice actress and director whose best known in the Sonic fandom for her portrayal of Amy Rose in the anime, Sonic X, and the games from 2005 - 2010. She, along with a couple of her Sonic X co-stars that I met with after her, were at GalaxyCon Live at the beginning of June for a Yu-Gi-Oh-themed event. We chatted a bit about the artwork that was on display behind us. I thought the plant and bird carvings were part of some kind of door or wall until Lisa said it was just a screen. It looked like it was produced by by a machine, but if it wasn't, the artist that made these carvings has fantastic attention to detail. I'm starting to get the hang of The Girl with a Pearl Earring getting recognized, but since it is a little-known painting, my knowledge of the story behind is still narrow. Maybe one rainy day, I can do a video about it and the artist, Johannes Vermeer. 1:26 - She got into character like a light when she noticed that I brought my Amy plush with me. I didn't see it coming, but my real life job and my prior sessions got me more comfortable with being a fast learner. 😂 This steered the conversation into talking their hilarious relationship dynamic, the Sonic fandom, and how speculation can encourage creative writing. Lately, Amy pursued Sonic a lot less either because she matured as time went on, which is great character development if you read the IDW comics, or her crush is less relevant to storylines in games such as Sonic Forces and Frontiers.
