Muzan is the first demon king, and during his final battle Muzan Kibutsuji turns Tanjiro into a Demon. However, tanjiros power ( fused with Muzan’s blood and his own overwhelming will ) causes the prototype cure to fail completely. Fearing both the Demon Slayer Corps and what he may become, Tanjiro flees Japan and disappears into mainland Asia, eventually hiding deep within Korea. His memory of everything he hold dear eventually fades, and with this he becomes a true monster, renaming himself... Gwi-ma, king of demons With the Demon Slayer Corps devastated by losses, there are few left capable of pursuing him. Reluctantly, Tengen Uzui and his wives are forced out of retirement, tasked with hunting a demon far beyond anything they’ve faced before. Unlike other demons, Tanjiro refuses to gain power by eating humans. Instead, he discovers something far more powerful. capturing souls grants him immense strength. Realizing this, Uzui’s wives devise a desperate plan: they will use the dedication of souls against him, attempting to trap Tanjiro inside the Demon Dimension (the infinity castle) until the cure can be perfected. They succeed in capturing him, however With no cure available, and the manufacture now impossible after shinobus death. Uzui’s wives become the first Hunters, dedicating their existence to a single purpose: keeping the Honmun sealed and strong, ensuring Demon King Tanjiro can never break free.
