Common questions that patient ask regarding rhinoplasty are: When can I resume work after rhinoplasty? Most people resume work or school 10 days to two weeks after surgery. If your job requires a lot of physical exertion, you might need to take an additional week off to recuperate. When can I resume my exercise routine after rhinoplasty? In general, most people resume light exercise about three weeks after surgery. More strenuous activity, including heavy lifting, can be resumed approximately six to eight weeks after surgery. Dr. Barrera will clear you to resume your regular exercise routine during one of your follow-up visits. Is there anything I can do to speed up the recovery from rhinoplasty? To enjoy a smooth and speedy recovery, you should do the following: Follow all of Dr. Barrera’s post-operative instructions. Sleep with your head elevated for the first week after surgery. Do not blow your nose for two weeks after surgery. Do not smoke. Eat a healthy diet and limit processed and salty foods. Stay well hydrated. Get plenty of sleep. Avoid exposing your incisions to direct sunlight. Do not rub or massage your nose. When will the results of my procedure be visible? As the post-operative swelling subsides, the surgical improvements will become noticeable. It can take up to a year for the results of your procedure to fully stabilize.
