It involves an in-office procedure where the hand specialist injects a small amount of an enzyme drug called collagenase into the palm. It takes about one day for the medicine to dissolve the thickened tissue. The patient returns to the office the next day for a simple manipulation procedure in the office (after some numbing medicine), where the finger is straightened.
