Film: Pocket Maar (1956) starring Devanand, Geeta Bali, Nadira, Lalita Pawar, and Tuntun. Sung by: Talat Mahmood and Lata Mangeshkar. Music: Madan Mohan. Continuing with my mission of ferreting out old melodious songs buried for ages under the dusty debris of Bollywood, I discovered this nearly 70 year old gem. The film created quite a sensation in those days, and it was remade in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu as well. The song is beautiful and fast-paced, almost in the manner of an O. P. Nayyar number. Lata Mangeshkar has brought dew-drop freshness to this song as a 27 year old, and Talat Saab, of course, who would miss the moonlight in his voice! For those whose familiarity with old Bollywood numbers falls short of connoisseur standards, the following link gives access to the audio clip of the original song: • Yeh Nai Nai Preet Hai I have played the song in 2 octaves with seamless switching between the male and female voices. I have used the 16-hole Hohner Super 64X chromatic, the equivalent of the Brahmos missile in my arsenal. The harmonica has double Reed plates for superb low-end response.
