The weight was gold, the path it was bright, But truth was never black and white. Crown of thorns, throne of lies, The wind still calls, the echoes cry. With every word, the briars grew, And all I loved, I lost it too… The court still bowed, the banners rose, But love fades fast where secrets grow. One whispered vow, then two, then three, The thorns dug deep, yet none could see. Crown of thorns, throne of lies, I hide the truth behind my eyes, I broke my vows, betrayed the crown, Now I wear my lies just like a gown. If I had stayed the queen they knew, Would fate still have betrayed me too? The higher I climbed, the less I could see, And now there is nothing… left of me.
