Bampton in Oxfordshire; The local papershop

Sept 13th 2010. Tom and Sylvia Papworth ran the papershop in Bampton for 28 years. They took it over from Tom's mother Emmie after she died and the shop was called 'Emmies'. Over the decades it gradually grew in size from one small room to a much larger one when Tom and Sylvia decided to have the partition wall from their room next door removed. After trying to sell the shop as a going concern along with their living area for several years, they finally had to admit defeat and close the shop in 2012. Along with the closing of Adrian Simmonds' shop, we all feel we have lost a large slice of local life and custom, but we wish Tom and Sylvia a long and happy retirement.
