This well explained video on how three young monks lived harmoniously in a forest monastery provides lessons on living and working in a group without any discord. The teaching is of relevance to us, be it at household, family, work-place or community level. Their peaceful co-existence was described as if they were ' Of "One Mind" whilst having Separate Bodies'. We apologize for not recording the first two slides. Their contents are included in the Description as follows: Background : The Buddha visits Venerables Anuruddha, Nandiya & Kimbila in the Gosingasala Forest and inquires after their well-being. Question 1: Venerables, How do you do? "I hope you are well, comfortable and not having difficulty in getting alms-food?" They answered in the affirmative. Question 2: How well do you get along with each other? " I hope you are getting along harmoniously, with mutual appreciation and respect without disagreement or discord; blending like milk and water" When questioned separately, each Bhikkhu explained how they had achieved to live without any debate or disagreement. The common thread of their behaviour was by "showing empathy" and understanding the needs of each other and giving these priority over one's own wishes or needs . Thereafter a detailed analysis of Empathy and its enactment follows... Please watch the video for the remainder of this discourse.
