Through shadow, fire and faith, one woman walks between worlds. This video tells a story set during the Christianization of Scandinavia. While historians often describe the transition from Norse belief to Christianity as peaceful, most of the written sources came from monks and priests. With the Viking written language and religion largely lost, many sacred pagan sites were either destroyed or replaced by churches. Because of this, very few traces remain today. Even if this story is fictional I hope it serves as a reminder to respect different beliefs and not take the world we know for granted. In this clip: ◾ Estrid (c. 1000–1080 AD) She lived in Sweden and was among the first Scandinavians linked to Christianity. Her name remains carved on runestones that still stand today. ◾ Hel (goddess of the underworld) A Norse goddess ruling over the realm of the dead. Mysterious, terrifying and powerful, she embodied the memory of the old faith. ◾ Wulfstan (c. 960–1023 AD) An English priest known for fiery sermons against the Vikings, calling them a plague upon Christian lands. His words turned him into a symbolic adversary of the Norse. Thank you for watching. – Adam
