Title: Servant of Salvation I got home from the yard where we sold part of the herd for the year, as I sat on the porch looking back over my day I started thinking about the sermon the preacher spoke on yesterday About God's suffering servant, and the things he endured and the price he was willing to pay to set us free As I sat and thought, the weight of it came flooding in as I thought back on the heard I had cared for, and my day The preacher told us how Jesus Verse 1: Gave his back to those who would strike, How they pulled the hair from his face. As they mocked him with hardened hearts All to bear my hurts, to bear my faults, I was the sinner, yet he carried my blame He was beaten, and did not hide, I'm sure the angels that knew him stood watching, helpless and cried I thought of my own sons, and how my loving Father offered his only one I trust in Jesus, who endured all this at the hands of those he made, all to offer me a better way Pre-Chorus: He tells us, I have set My face like flint, Though they mock and though they scorn, My Father upholds and carries Me in this, I have a better plan, for you Chorus: Jesus, God's Suffering Servant, You remained steadfast for me, You carried the cross, You set me free. Every lash, the thorns, was an endless love you poured out on me, For my salvation, my ransom, no doubt. Jesus in Your sacrifice and hurting, I am redeemed, The victory won, and through his suffering, my Father's grace is given, to me Verse 2: You tell us, I was despised and rejected by men, Yet I trusted the Lord to uphold Me again. Though hatred surrounded and darkness closed in, My soul remained steadfast, My God confessed. The arm of the Lord sustains my way, I will not falter, I will not sway. Pre-Chorus: You tell us, I have set My face like flint, Through the night, through every blow. Though they mock and though they scorn, The Lord sustains Me, you are reborn. Chorus: Jesus, God's Suffering Servant, You remained steadfast for me, You carried the cross, You set me free. Every lash, the thorns, was an endless love you poured out on me, For my salvation, my ransom, no doubt. Jesus in Your sacrifice and hurting, I am redeemed, The victory won, and through Jesus' suffering, my Father's grace is given, to me Bridge: By Your stripes, we are healed, By Your humiliation, my salvation was revealed. You bore my shame, You carried my hurting, So in Your triumph, that we might reign. O Lord of glory, steadfast and true, We lift our hearts, we worship You. Chorus (Repeat): Jesus, God's Suffering Servant, You stood for me, You carried the cross, You set me free. Every lash, the thorns, was endless love poured out on me, For my salvation, my ransom, no doubt. Jesus in Your sacrifice and hurting, I am redeemed, The victory won, and through Jesus' suffering, my Father's grace is given, to me Outro: Servant of God, Messiah, King, [male singer, spoken] My friend, Jesus Thank you, and your suffering for me. As he hung on the cross, they walked around him, shaking their head laughing saying you claimed you could destroy the temple and build it again in three days, let us see you SAVE YOURSELF and step off your cross, the religious crowd did the same, they too were laughing, and scorning him as he hung in pain, saying he saved others, he can't even save himself. In mockery they stooped and said, Let the Christ the King of Israel descend from his cross, when you do this, we will see and believe you. They weren't the only ones, those that were crucified with him mocked him as well. What a savior we have, What a loving Father we have that would do this, as his heart was torn, to hold back his hand from helping him, Romans five eight But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. all for us. All for me
