🌿 Surah An-Nūr (سورة النور) 📖 English Description Surah An-Nūr is a Madinan chapter consisting of 64 verses. It focuses on purity, modesty, social ethics, and the protection of honor within the Muslim community. The Surah establishes important legal and moral guidelines, including: Laws regarding false accusations (slander) The punishment for adultery The protection of personal honor The importance of modesty for both men and women Etiquette for entering homes and maintaining privacy One of the most significant events addressed in this Surah is the incident of the false accusation against ʿĀ’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Surah clears her name and warns believers against spreading rumors without evidence. Among its most powerful verses is the famous Verse of Light: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth…” (24:35) This profound metaphor describes divine guidance as a radiant light illuminating hearts and guiding believers toward truth.
