How To Use JessEm's Box Joint Jig | Step-By-Step Instructions Our Box Joint Jig creates perfect joints in minutes! That's a ton of time saving on making table saw jigs or cutting these by hand! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use your Box Joint Jig: 1. Choice between one of the three box joint sizes (1/4", 3/8" or 1/2") and install both the key and matching fence face onto the jig. Make sure the bit in your router matches the chosen key/fence size 2. Attach your jig to the base and set everything into your miter track. 3. Using the 4-way adjustment knobs/bolts, align your jig so the router bit is centered with the end of your cutting slot. We recommend aligning horizontally first, then setting your depth after *Note: If you own our Mast-R-Lift II or Rout-R-Lift II, simply align your jig with the locking port of your lift. This will align your jig near perfect every time 4. Set your bit height to match your board thickness. You can use a scrap piece of wood or we recommend a JessEm Tool Setting Gauge for quick adjustments 5. At this time, we recommend making test cuts with scrap wood. If the joint feels too tight or too loose, you can move the base to the left or right to make your joint fit just right. Once you're satisfied with your cut, move onto the next step. 6. Bump your wood against the key and make your first cut. Then, mount the newly cut portion of your wood onto the key and make another cut. Repeat this process until the board is complete. 7. Rotate your board 180° and place the last cut onto the key. Bump your next board to wish to join to this one up against it. Make your cut, then remove the first board. Bump your new board against the key and make another cut. Repeat until your second board is complete. 8. Repeat Steps 6 & 7 until all sides of your project are complete. We recommend labelling the ends as you cut them to avoid any confusion during assembly. 9. Finally, when everything is cut, shut off your router and assemble your project. Use your markings as reference. After completing this process, making box joints is simple and very quick! For more information, visit jessem.com #woodworking #howto #boxjointjig #joinery #diy
