Lanao del Norte, particularly KAUSWAGAN, was not a place that a leisure traveler would normally put on his or her Must-See list. It was never touted as a tourist destination, but was rather more infamous for being a hotspot of rebellion and violence. If there is one thing we could learn from the success story that is Kauswagan, it is this: Those who do bad things are not always bad people. Sometimes they are just desperate people. Or scared. Or hungry. People who have had enough of being taken for a ride, and are already crushed by years of broken promises and neglect. The tale of Kauswagan is testament that it is possible for a small, provincial municipality to soar even after being buried for a very long time in the ashes of despair and war. In this epsode, we share with you the good news that Mayor Rommel Arnado and his talented, hardworking municipal staff continue to make headway for the people of Kauswagan. The storytellers here are ordinary farmers, many of whom do not even own lands but are able to farm because the local government made it possible for them to do so.
