Two injured in Las Vegas police shooting after firing at officers

A Las Vegas police officer shot and injured two people after someone allegedly shot at law enforcement from a car late Sunday night, according to an official. The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. in the city of North Las Vegas, near Lone Mountain Road and Scott Robinson Boulevard, west of Camino Al Norte, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Capt. Esmeralda Boveda told reporters. Officers with LVMPD were in the area for an investigative follow-up to a drive-by shooting reported earlier Sunday morning in the 5100 block of Hickam Avenue, near Decatur Boulevard and Craig Road. The officers spotted two vehicles believed to be related to the investigation and followed them, Boveda said. While the officers followed, at least one person from those cars opened fire and several rounds hit two LVMPD vehicles.
