LAX to Anaheim: The Best Transit Options Explained

Working in hotels in the Anaheim Resort area, we get calls from guests planning their business trip or trip to Disneyland with ground transportation from Los Angeles International Airport (call sign: LAX). There are a few options but cost well over $120 for taxi, rideshare, or shuttle van. However, if you are not in a time crunch, want to save money on ground transportation, and you can take the scenic route via transit cheaply as $25.75 to even $1.75 a person. Let’s get from LAX to Anaheim by transit! Method 1 of 3: Recommended route via LAX Flyaway, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, and OCBus/ART to the Anaheim Resort area. This route takes the LAXFlyaway motor coach services at $9.75 which has luggage storage, and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner for $16 with luggage storage as well, which includes transfer to OCBus & ART. Total cost $25.75 and takes about two hours & twenty minutes. Taking the LAXFlyaway motor coach fare was $9.75 with luggage storage, Time leaving at 11:40 am from Terminal 1, was 45 minutes going around to pick up passengers at the eight other terminals, and 30 minutes in transit on the bus and dropped off at LA Union Station. Depending on arrival time, you may need to wait for your Surfliner train, like I did for two hours and went to downtown LA for lunch & shopping at Target, so the waiting time does not count. I took the LA Metro B line to FigAt7th to shop at Target. Then head back to LA Union Station. The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner costs $16 per person to Anaheim with luggage storage. The train boards ten minutes before departure, and takes 37 minutes from LA Union Station to ARTIC. To get to the Anaheim Resort area, go to the bus bays to take the ART shuttle or OCBus 50 to the Anaheim Resort Area. ART shuttle line 15 to Disneyland takes about 20 minutes, OCBus 50 to Katella/Harbor is about 16 minutes. Time in the vehicles is about two hours and twenty minutes at the cost of $25.75 per person per way. ----------------- Method 2 of 3: Metrolink & LA Metro (Pre LAX/Metro Center opening) from Anaheim to LAX. Buy a Metrolink ticket for $8.75 on the Metrolink app from Anaheim to Los Angeles Union Station. Take the ART Bus from the hotel to the ARTIC via the A Way We Go App. From the ARTIC, take a Los Angeles-bound Metrolink train to LA Union Station. Then take the LA Metro B/D line to 7th Street/Metro Center, and then take the E line to Expo/Crenshaw. When you exit, go downstairs for the LA Metro K line for now to Westchester/Veterans as the following station, LAX/Metro Center is not open yet which would be a hub for buses and LA Metro K & C lines. For now, at Westchester/Veterans, a few blocks to the LA Metro 857 at Manchester & Isis Ave., passing by the LAX/Metro Center, exit at Aviation/Century. Then take LA Metro 117 to LAX Bus Center, the temporary bus hub until LAX/Metro Center opens. Finally, take the LAX Bus Center shuttle to your terminal. Total fare: $8.75, Time 3 hours & 10 Minuites. -------- Method 3 of 3: All LA Metro Route from LAX to Anaheim First was the LAX bus Center bus to the bus center. Then LA Metro 117 to Aviation/ Century and take LA Metro C line to Norwalk Metro station, and then take LA Metro Bus 460 to Disneyland. Transfers are free for three hours with the TAP Card or app. Time $1.75 with TAP Card app. Time estimated: 2 hours & 25 minutes. 00:00 Calling the hotel 00:57 Method 1: LAX Flyaway & Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 03:39 Method 2: Metrolink & LA Metro 06:34 Method 3: LA Metro Bus & Rail Only
