https://bfpca.org.au Fed up with plane noise in Brisbane? Since 2020, there have been official complaints about aircraft noise from over 220 suburbs across Greater Brisbane — more than any other airport in the country. Why? Because people are being woken in the middle of the night. Children can’t concentrate at school. Families can’t enjoy time in their own backyards. Brisbane plane noise isn’t just a nuisance — it’s a public health issue, and it’s impacting the quality of life for thousands of families and communities across our city. And yet… There are still no laws regulating aircraft noise in Australia. So how did it come to this? What we are dealing with is state capture — when powerful industries like aviation have too strong an influence on governments and regulators. With state capture, industry gets favours and special treatment to maximise their profits while they push the costs onto everyday Australians. People were told the second runway would reduce noise. It hasn’t. People were promised flights over the ocean. But the majority of planes fly over people’s homes. People were given consultation. But They weren’t really listened to. Our community in Brisbane has been misled—and we’re paying the price. Brisbane Flight Path Community Alliance is here to change that. We’re a volunteer-run, non-partisan, community association giving a voice to those affected by aircraft noise. We are fighting for a night curfew – like Sydney, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and Essendon airport in Melbourne already have. A cap on flight numbers – to protect liveability as Brisbane grows. More flights over the ocean – like we were promised. We are independent. We are local. And We are a registered Australian charity. We are powered by people like you. If you’re affected by plane noise — or if you care about fairness, accountability, and justice — join us. Subscribe to our newsletter Follow us on Facebook and YouTube. And help us make some noise about plane noise. Together, we can create a better future for Brisbane. ABOUT BFPCA Brisbane Flight Path Community Alliance (BFPCA) brings together Brisbane communities adversely affected by Brisbane Airport noise pollution – including aeroplane noise pollution and human health impacts. Our aim is to ensure authorities such as Airservices Australia, Brisbane Airport Corporation BAC and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) take steps to mitigate Brisbane plane noise and provide appropriate Brisbane flight paths. The new parallel runway in July 2020 led to a severe increase in plane noise pollution and health impacts on thousands of people in Brisbane. We also want to see effective use of strategies such as SODPROPS to reduce Brisbane's plane noise. Brisbane Flight Path Community Alliance (BFPCA) brings communities together to advocate for urgent actions to mitigate Brisbane's airplane noise pollution and other impacts on communities. BFPCA CHARTER BFPCA’s goal is to demand best practice design principles be applied to minimise noise pollution and adverse health impacts from Brisbane Airport’s flight paths on Brisbane residents and businesses, while maintaining the economic benefits of the airport and the aviation industry in Queensland. FACEBOOK / bfpca.org.au WEBSITE https://bfpca.org.au YOUTUBE / @bfpca EMAIL contact@bfpca.org.au BFPCA acknowledges the significant role of the aviation industry for Brisbane and Queensland communities. However, communities have the right to accurate, timely and transparent information about the operations of infrastructure and aircraft operations when affected by plane noise. Communities have the right to the quiet enjoyment of their neighbourhoods free from preventable, excessive, unsustainable and unmitigated aircraft noise pollution. Our Brisbane communities have a right to transparent communication and high quality noise abatement strategies regarding Brisbane airport and Brisbane flight paths. There are lower impact alternatives available to Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), Airservices Australia (AsA), and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) that have not been employed in the design of Brisbane Airport’s network of flight paths. Brisbane Airport flight paths must be designed and used in accordance with best practice. Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) community engagement regarding the full extent of the redesigned flight paths was insufficient and misleading. The airspace design and community consultation process for Brisbane’s flight paths failed to properly identify, communicate and reasonably mitigate negative impacts on Brisbane communities. BFPCA OBJECTIVES Bring together communities impacted by Brisbane Airport flight paths to share their experiences and advocate for change. Help to maintain the unique character of Brisbane’s neighbourhoods and its communities from the harmful impacts of unsustainable and unmitigated aircraft noise pollution.
