When Kate's lapidary slab saw needs a repair job, she turns to her trusty trim saw to make some cuts on a chunk of labradorite. The iridescent blue of labradorite is famous around the world for its play of color and deep hues - but cut it the wrong way, and you'll end up with a brown rock. Using the trim saw, Kate cuts some beautiful slabs from the rough - and a few not-so-beautiful ones, to help understand why one turns out perfectly and another, not so much. It's all about the angles when cutting labradorite! After making a thick slab, Kate decides to try to make a heart (it IS Valentine's Day, after all!) and takes the piece to her Cab King grinding wheels.
