He is an expert in consequences assessment for accidental events, including ice impact, and further in the field of material modelling for non-linear finite element simulations and small and large-scale experimental research. He has more than 230 publications in the corresponding fields. He is the chairman of the ISSC V.2 on Experimental Methods, a symposium coordinator for the Arctic Technology Symposium at OMAE, a member of the OOAE Executive Committee, a member of the board of the German Association for Marine Technology, the ICSOS conference co-chair and co-founder, an editor for the Ship Technology Research Journal, an associate editor for Marine Structures and a guest editor for Ships and Offshore Structures and a reviewer for several international journals. https://www2.tuhh.de/skf/profil-soere... The Module ‚Emerging Fields in Architecture` imparts knowledge about the latest research, design and development in research disciplines beyond mainstream architectural topics. In this module we encourage discussion and ideas that go radically beyond the traditional way of thinking. Our goal is to trigger a process of re-thinking and finding solutions to design challenges using an interdisciplinary approach. For the winterterm 2020, we will look for and trace the topic of ‘essentials’ from various angles throughout the module.
