This is a delicious recipe for a mid-week family meal. Ingredients: 350g Shortcrust Pastry 250g Grated Cheese 200g Onions 1 Egg 1 tsp Black Pepper 1. Peel and chop your onions 2. Place them in a pan of boiling water and simmer for 13 minutes or until soft. 3. Cut your block of pastry into two, making one half slightly bigger than the other. 4. Take the larger half and roll it out on a floured surface to fit your pie dish. 5. Trim the edges of your pastry with a sharp knife and add the scraps to your remaining pastry. 6. Drain your onions, making sure to remove as much mlisture as possible. 7. Place half of the onions in the empty pie dish. 8. Then, add half of your cheese. 9. Followed by the rest of your onions. 10. And the rest of your cheese! 11. After that , season with black pepper. 12. Take the remainder of your pastry and roll it out on a floured surface once again, so you can make the pie lid. 13. Beat your egg. 14. Lightly brush the sides of your pie base. This helps the crust to stick together. 15. Place your pastry lid on your pie. 16. Trim the edges of your pie. 17. Seal the crusts of your pie using your thumb around the edges. 18. Glaze the top of your pie with your beaten egg. This helps give the pie a golden finish. 19. Gently make two slits in the top of the pie lid with a knife. 20. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy! It can be eaten hot, or cold. Like us on Facebook! / heartyhomecooking
