Troops outside Knesset STORYLINE Israeli police deployed more than 7,000 officers and units in and around Jerusalem on Thursday as the body of Israel's ninth President Shimon Peres was placed at the plaza of the Knesset, Israel's parliament, for people to pay their last respects. Peres died on Wednesday from complications following a stroke. He was 93. Former US President Bill Clinton landed in Israel on Thursday, one of scores of world leaders past and present expected to attend Peres' state funeral in Jerusalem on Friday. Clinton was president when Peres helped negotiate a historic interim peace agreement with the Palestinians in 1993. The following year, Peres shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
