Dexta Dual Clutch Overhaul (Trailer for DVD)

Dual clutches or 'Livedrive' as it was often known featured two clutch plates, one for the transmission and a separate one for the PTO and proved to be a popular feature of tractors from the 1960's. The PTO clutch could be operated by a hand lever or by a 'two stage' clutch pedal, pushing the pedal halfway down disengaged the transmission while fully down disengaged the transmission and the PTO. Using a 'hands on' approach this presentation follows the dismantling, repair, re-assembly and setting up of a Fordson Super Dexta dual clutch. In addition flywheel run-out, clutch adjustment and gearbox input shaft seal replacement are detailed. Improvisation plays a key role to overcome the lack of special tools. Although based on a Fordson Super Dexta the basic procedures shown will be applicable to other makes and models of tractor fitted with dual clutches.
