Zambian Music uploaded Tuesdays and Fridays. This single comes from the great rock and Kalindula band, The Five Reolutions. BA Mulemena is kind of a special record. It's a tribute of a then giant in Zambian music who died in 1982, Emmanuel Mulemena. The gentle reverence towards the fallen musician and bandleader is evident even if you don't understand Bemba. The record is a bit noisy, but the music shines through. Mulemena was a contemporary of Alick Nkata and a skilled musician and band leader. He surrounded himself with excellent musicians and it shows in his music. After his death, his former backing band became the Mulemena boys and produced one of the best Zambian albums of the 1980's, "A Tribute to the Late Emmanuel Mulemena." 5 Revolutions was originally formed in 1968 under the band name "The Twangs." The original lineup included Chris Mbewe who left the band early on and later became the lead guitarist for Witch. The band played bars and other venues in Zambia's Copperbelt and were eventually discovered and supported by Zambia Music Parlour. The 5 revolutions became ZMP's most successful band. In 1975 the 5 Revolutions released their first rock album, Boyfriends under the ZMP label. They would release two more rock albums in the late 1970's before switching to Kalindula music by 1980. Their last album, 5 Revolutions - Kachasu Ne Ndoshi was released in 1986 but they also released a number of singles in the 1970's and 80's and were active live performers. The band remained active in the 1980s and into the 1990s until the demise of Zambia Music Parlour. The last member of the band passed away in 2012. 00:00 Ba Mulemena - Part 1 04:28 Ba Mulemena - Part 2 Zambia Music Parlour ZMPS 445 1982?
