Community activist Andrew Holmes speaks during an Aug. 5 press conference “to highlight the growing concern regarding the number of murderers and violent offenders allowed to remain free,” according to a written release. There are countless gun violence victims in Chicago. By placing the blame on Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, their families perpetuate conservative-leaning myths about criminal justice and bail reform. On Aug. 5, Holmes, disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and “Case Files Chicago” TV producer Lisette Guillen joined seven families during a press conference staged at the Daley Center across the street from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO), urging Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and CCSAO prosecutors to reexamine cases involving their loved ones. They’re asking the CCSAO to pursue additional charges in cases as needed, and to respond to phone calls from the families of gun violence victims.
