(13 Nov 2019) Hundreds of protesters gathered on the road leading to the presidential palace in Baabda in mount Lebanon on Wednesday. Lebanese riot police and security forces placed metal barriers and barbed wire on the road that leads to the presidential palace to prevent protesters from approaching it. The protesters carried Lebanese flags and chanted slogans calling on President Michel Aoun to step down. Scuffles erupted between riot police and protesters as they tried to pass by the barbed wire. The protesters took to the streets after Aoun said in a televised interview there could be further delays before a new government is formed, and said the best option was a Cabinet made up of technocrats and politicians to deal with the country's economic and financial troubles. Protesters, who have been calling for a Cabinet made up solely of experts, rejected Aoun's speech.
