Tlajkuilolistli tlen amo kipiia tepamitl (The writing that has no walls) Welcome to UikalistliTlenCoyotl. This original poem I, Michael E. Moore, wrote in the Eastern Huasteca (Chicontepec) variant of Nahuatl language using SEP orthography, explores the journey of learning any indigenous language from the outside. Sometimes, speech can feel guarded or walled off—like a heavy stone boundary (tepamitl). But while spoken language can be fenced in, the written word and the spirit (tonalli) of the language have no walls. The poetry itself remains open, because the word ultimately belongs to everyone. © 2026 @Uikalistli tlen Coyotl and Michael E. Moore. This work is licensed for personal and educational use only.
