Pekoe Trail Stage 19 ( Ettampitiya to Lunuwatta ) is the longest trail out of all the 22 stages. This 19 km trails runs though few of the most remote areas of Sri Lanka. Trail gives you spectacular views of mountains , paddy fields , tea estates and rural villeges and Uma oya. Surprisingly trail crosses main roads for few times ( 4-5 ) too. Though there is not much difference between the starting and ending elevations you have to tackle so many ups and downs in this trail. Therefore overall elevation gain and loss is pretty high in this trail. Also hard underfoot conditions and the humidity of the area bring you extra challenge resulting this trail is being ranked as " tough " according to pekoe trail guidelines . So starting the trail early in the morning is a must. Also you must select a day with suitable weather . Drinking plenty of fluids is also very important .  🌱 start the trail early as possible 🌱 Always download your offline map . Compare it with signs and make the most suitable decision  🌱 Carry enough water. 3 L minimum  🌱 Path is well cleared and signs are there at important junctions 🌱 Check for the weather before you hit the trail 🌱 Leeches may be plenty if there is rain. Be prepared . Use a leach repellent  🌱 There are few shops on the trail where you can buy snacks & grocery items Pekoe  Trail is 300+ km walking trail through central highlands of Srilanka covering Beautiful tea estates , Scenic  locations and historical places. It connects three districts Kandy , Badulla and Nuwara Eliya .
