Assam was never Sankar-Azaan's, but always Sankar-Madhav's state" During the State BJP Executive Meeting, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a pertinent issue: the distortion of Assam’s history over time. “Assam was never Sankar-Azaan’s state,” the Chief Minister said. Srimanta Sankardev born in the 15th century, was a revered Assamese Saint-Scholar and a social reformer who founded the ‘Ekasarana Dharma’, a form of Neo-Vaishnavism that emphasised devotion to Shri Krishna. He promoted social equality in medieval Assam. On the other hand, Azan Fakir, originally known as Shah Miran was born in the 17th Century - came to Assam from Baghdad. That is, 200 years approximately after Sankardev. He spread Islam through harmonious teachings, composing Zikirs and Zaris - devotional songs inspired by Sankardev’s Bargeet style - that blended Sufi mysticism with local traditions to promote religious tolerance and social reform. Politically, the slogan denotes a co-existence of Hindu-Muslim in Assam by denoting Sankardev and Azan Fakir together. However, the original slogan is Sankar-Madhav. Sankardev’s original disciple was Shri Shri Madhavdev. However, political distortion of history led to the collaboration of Sankar-Azan. Chief Minister hence, lashed out at the distortion. #politics #himantabiswasarma #assam #shankardev #madhavdev #fakir #ajan_fakir #assamhistory #assamhistorygk #ajan_fakir_movie #assamesesong #assamesemovie #আজান #আজান_ফকিৰ
