JUST IN!!! 1948 MG TC Roadster Featured on The History Channel in The Great Race (From Tacoma Washington to Haverhill, Maine) A local Sioux Falls treasure, Restored and Raced by Jim Tranby (Classic import and repair, Sioux Falls, SD) and Dean Kjelden! (former owner of Ben Hur Ford, Sioux Falls, SD) Crossed America in 14 days, in a race ran by all pre- 1950 Cars. Roughly 2,400 miles through all varieties of driving conditions, 38 degrees and sleet in CO in a 2 door roadster, getting passed by trucks with tires bigger then their whole car. Boston, MA to Sacramento, CA all the while hitting pre-determined check points in as close as possible to the set amount of time based on the cars specs. The winners came closet to covering their distances in the exact time allotted. Kjelden and Tranby finished Fifth in the rookie class, 12th in the sportsman class, and 38th overall out of 100 cars. With a mantra of "to finish is to win" The spirit of the race is what its all about! At 54 HP (1250cc) and backed by a 4 speed manual It runs out at about 50-55MPH The modification on the passenger side of the hood hints at a supercharger but there is no documentation of it ever having such modification.
