In this video, Dr. Thanos Paraschos presents the procedure that he follows via IVF in order to grant the gift of life to couples who experience difficulty in acquiring a child. Together with his team of specialized nurses, midwives, anesthesiologists and embryologists at the IVF Embio Medical Center, we present the stages of the procedure starting from the stage of oocyte retrieval, in which the oocytes that were extracted from the woman are transported to the laboratory. The process of locating the follicles is performed with ultrasound. The follicular fluid found in the follicles is absorbed in order to retrieve the egg. In this stimulation process that has been induced in the ovaries it is possible to assemble from 2 or 3 to 30 eggs. Once the eggs are collected with the help of the embryologist, they are transported to the laboratory, in which attempts will begin to fertilize all of them and choose the most suitable for introduction into the uterus. In addition, the doctor describes the process of micro-fertilization and in which cases it is applied, as well as a detailed description of embryo implantation in the uterus by means of a catheter. The amount of embryos implanted in the uterus is limited to 2 or 3 for the purpose of avoiding multiple pregnancies, but also because with the new technique for IVF in a natural cycle, women, in many cases, do not need to receive medication. In addition, the issue of egg freezing for future use is brought up as well as the new techniques used for this purpose. To inform the public, the doctor mentions the cost of the procedure, which varies depending on the case, as well as the existing coverage of the couple's fund. Finally, a new technique mentioned is the pre-implantation diagnosis, which enables the biopsy of the embryo used to locate non-healthy embryos.
