How to paint a BIRD in watercolor. This easy to understand painting tutorial is designed for watercolorists of any ability of experience level. I try to cover some basic watercolour theory that applies to all subject as well as some bird specific tricks & tips to help you improve and progress your watercolor paintings. Another beautiful family of birds, the Bee-Eaters. This one is a European Bee-Eater, but there will certainly be more to come from these wonderful birds in this series! The colours for this painting were a mixture of Holbein, a few PWC and one Daniel Smith: Ultramarine Blue Maganese Blue (happily replace the Pthalo or just use Prussian) Burnt Sienna (mixed with ultramarine makes wonderful deep darks) Quinacridone Red Aussie Red Gold (Daniel Smith Watercolours) Indian Yellow Turqouise Blue It was painted on Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour paper (gummed block) with a size 14 & size 8 synthetic round brush.
