Based in Bellingen, Santa Taranta is a vibrant trio made up of Salvatore Rossano, Hayley Egan and Emiliano Beltzer. Drawing deeply from the folk traditions of Southern Italy, their music is rich with infectious rhythms, heartfelt melodies, and storytelling that captures the spirit of migration, celebration, and resilience. Their performances blend traditional sounds with contemporary energy, creating a dynamic and emotive experience that connects audiences to both the old world and the new. Santa Taranta has been playing folk festivals and prominent venues throughout Australia and Europe since 2013. Inspired by the folk traditions of Southern Italy, their recordings include ‘Sete’ (2017) which reimagines a collection of Italian repertoire, and ‘SONU- Songs from the Homeland,’ an artistic response to the folklore and oral history archive of the National Library of Australia, and result of the National Folk Fellowship, of which Salvatore was the recipient in 2018. Also noteworthy are the groups recordings with the ‘Santa Taranta Orchestra’ in 2020, featuring collaborations with various prominent CALD artists. https://www.santataranta.com ------ Songs: Madre Terra © Santa Taranta / Ninna Nanna (trad.)
