Hi all.. As mentioned , this is my latest nearly finished project ( needs a box ! ) . It's a staccato controlled QCWDRSSTC . Staccato control is a simpler way of ramping up the voltage supplied to the bridge over around 10ms. It's this ramping combined with high frequency that gives the sparks a straight sword like appearance which differentiates this type of coil from a standard sstc or drsstc. The original design for this project came from Zach of Labcoatz. I changed the main power bridge rectifier for one that can handle more current and wound the gdt as a 1:1 ratio ( equal turns of primary and secondary windings ) on an Epcos N87 ferrite core. Somewhat disappointed at the fuse blowing , thus shortening the demo , , an oversight on my part ! As I said , I have two spare boards for this project that I'll give away to the first two people who find my email address and email me the correct answer to my question ( just a little fun ! ). The question is . . IN WHAT YEAR DID TESLA COMMENCE INVESTIGATING WIRELESS TRANSMISSION ? If anyone has ideas for design improvements , please feel free to mention them.
