Buguey, Cagayan November 10, 2024 Underscoring the government’s commitment to providing timely support and resources to communities affected by natural calamities, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the distribution of various assistance to families impacted by Typhoon ‘Marce’ in Buguey, Cagayan on November 10, 2024. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributes 1,500 food packs while the Department of Agriculture (DA) provides PhP866.33 million worth of agricultural interventions. These interventions include hybrid rice seeds, fertilizer discounts and poultry assistance with native chickens and ducks to help farmers restart agriculture activities. Additionally, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Cagayan distributes relief efforts by providing 300 food packs with a buffer stock of 500 packs ready for further distribution if necessary. President Marcos Jr. turns over PhP10 million in financial assistance from the Office of the President (OP) to each of the eight (8) severely affected municipalities in Cagayan, namely Aparri, Buguey, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Teresita, Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga and Santa Ana. Typhoon ‘Marce’ exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) after making two landfalls in Cagayan Province. The typhoon brought strong winds and heavy rain, causing significant damage across the area. Cagayan remains under a Yellow Rainfall Warning due to Tropical Storm ‘Nika’ that is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain to the Province. This adds to the recovery challenges for communities still dealing with Typhoon Marce’s aftermath.
