On January 10, 1942, on Lee Street in Alexandria, Louisiana, a confrontation between military police and Black soldiers from nearby Camp Claiborne erupted into violence. What the Army officially called the "Lee Street Riot" was described by witnesses as a massacre, ending with an unknown number of Black soldiers shot dead by military and civilian police. This documentary explores the hidden history of one of the most suppressed racial incidents of World War II. We uncover the story of the extreme Jim Crow tensions, the events of that fatal night, the immediate cover-up by the U.S. military, the possible existence of unmarked mass graves, and the 80-year fight to uncover the truth. This is the story of the soldiers America killed and then tried to erase from history. #WWIIHistory #LeeStreetMassacre #MilitaryHistory #UnseenFrontlines #CivilRights #MilitaryJustice #WW2 #HistoryDocumentary #BlackHistory #CoverUp
