Follow her advice and start with a good base—skinny black jeans, a flouncy silk shirt, and a pair of sick heels—and you’ll be ready for anything. It’s incredibly chic, especially when the weather isn’t great, to button the trench coat up all the way and make it look like a dress. With a pair of thigh high boots, a trench coat can be a chic outfit in and of itself. If you’re wearing long sleeves, push your trench coat’s sleeves up to show the shirt cuffs coming out. This will add something special to your outfit. Another great idea is to loosely tie the belt of the trench on the back. This opens the front of your coat a little bit to show your outfit, and it cinches your waist a little bit as well.
