Liszt - Consolation No. 3, S. 172

Hmm... what to say about this one. It has a quality sort of like a Nocturne or Mendelsohn's songs without words. It's in a major Key but still there's something tragic about it. Mysterious qualities in art paired with instantly gratifying qualities really leave an impression. I remember first practicing this and thinking to myself, "man, once this one hits the streets, I'll really be turning heads." I'm not sure if it's left an impression like that. But I do think people have enjoyed it. I suppose more than anything else I hear Liszt's over dramatic self speaking of a love he lost. I know people tend to hate that side of Liszt, the overly dramatic yearning. And I just as much as anyone, hate phony crap. But for some reason, I never minded Liszt's drama. I mean, I guess the fact of the matter is, Love can make you feel all sorts of intense emotions even though no one has died and you'll probably get over it. There are a lot of fish in the sea. But still I can identify with these feelings and there's no point in denying their existence. So Yearn away... tug at my heart strings and make me feel an empty hole in my existence that perhaps only chocolate can fill. Heh...
