The lovely village of Rosthwaite in the Borrowdale valley, Keswick

On a recent trip back to the UK, I had the fortune to stay most of my time in the lovely village of Rosthwaite, situated in the Borrowdale valley. There are some excellent places to stay to suite most budgets, including the Borrowdale camp site! Here you will find a number of posh hotels, 'gastro pubs', B&B, farmhouses, quaint pubs and a number of excellent Youth hostels. I can thoroughly recommend The Borrowdale Youth Hostel situated next to Johnny's Wood, Longthwaite (just past Rosthwaite). It has a warm welcoming lounge; excellent self-catering facilities; a small library; an internet facility and a brilliant drying room :-) The YH is ideally placed for exploring the mountains and crags in the area, whether you are a climber or a walker and of course it is perfectly placed for kayaking and water sports. My friends Marjorie and Henry have made me welcome here since I first visited them in 1991 :-)
