What Children Think 📴 #BBCNewsround The government is asking children and adults for their views on how to keep young people safe online. One idea being discussed is a possible social media ban for under‑16s, similar to rules already introduced in Australia. Other suggestions include overnight curfews or stricter limits on how long young people can spend online. Some children say they wouldn’t like a ban because social media helps them stay connected, learn new things and see what’s happening in the world. Others think a ban could be helpful, saying too much scrolling can affect confidence and make it hard to stop. Some say a ban wouldn’t work because people could find ways around it or lie about their age. Many also suggested safer rules, time limits and focusing on making the UK safer for children overall. We’ll keep following this story as the government decides what changes could be made. For more news and guides made for young people, visit the Newsround website.
