Ultravox - Ultravox – Hymn on on Top of The Pops, 1982. This version of the single Hymn is a re-recording made for the BBC TV show Top of the Pops for their appearance on 16th December 1982. At the time it was a requirement of the UK’s Musicians Union organisation that artists who were miming on TV shows re-recorded the songs with the musicians who were performing on the show. Thus, protecting their members against any non-musicians brought in to perform. In most cases the recording would be switched to the original studio version for the performance. The version here was recorded at Olympic Sound Studios on 14th December 1982 for the 16th December edition of Top of The Pops. It was witnessed and signed off by an MU representative, but never formally mixed. This has been newly mixed for the first time by Richard Whittaker and released as part of the deluxe reissue project of The Collection.
