Get an incredible and professional-looking book cover designed for your nonfiction book (or fiction book or children's book) for just $279 with 99 Designs (and here for $20 off: https://www.talkable.com/x/NmZf3C). This video shows you the exact steps and I also share my best tips and tricks that I've learned from using 99 Designs for my own book cover designs and for clients' books too. Below I am mapping out the steps I cover in the video... RESOURCES: Get $20 off your first design: https://www.talkable.com/x/NmZf3C Step by step directions in text form (also shown on the video): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R... STEPS TO LAUNCH A COVER DESIGN CONTEST AND USE IT FOR PRE-LAUNCH BOOK MARKETING: 1. Go to 99 Designs, type in “book cover” in the top search bar area and click “get started." If you use this link, it will give you $20 your first design: https://www.talkable.com/x/NmZf3C 2. Then click “Get a design” after you read more about “how it works” if you want a good overview from them (scroll down to the bottom for some good FAQ info) 3. Then, I personally choose “Physical Book from $299” -- not “Both from $399” -- because I just use the front cover of the physical book design as the ebook cover. Click “continue.” 4. From there it will ask you lots of book details: -- select visual images showing designs you like -- pick colors you have in mind (TIP: avoid a white background because it blends with Amazon’s website) -- describe book details your email language title & author name photo of author (usually used on back cover but you can do front -- up to you!) about the author (bio) genre of book book blurb or short description target audience of book paperback or hardback? what you want on the front cover what you want on the back cover what you want on the spine (you can’t have text on it if your book is under 100 pages, fyi) where you will be distributing the book styles you’d like designers to keep in mind description of what you are looking for (TIPS: 9”x6” is most common print dimensions with 0.125” bleed...I like big, easy-to-read fonts from small thumbnail view) anything designers should avoid? (I say ‘no white background’...no ‘serif’ fonts...no stockphotos of people in business suits) allow stock images in contest? (I say sure...sometimes it’s a small extra fee for you to purchase what they use, but you don’t have to buy the license until the end when they turn over the design) any files you can upload that are helpful for the designer? All that info will be sent out for designers to then reference as they create. You can get a full refund even after you start seeing initial designs coming through. So there is no risk…and I think you will be really happy with what you see come through. 5. For the payment…I usually do: Bronze for $299 (or $279 if you use my link to save $20) title the contest click on Promote your contest’s “show options” and click on Power Pack for $99 to get more designers working on it you can also click on “Guaranteed” if you are 1000% sure you will pick a winner and want more designs on it...I usually don’t but am getting more and more confident in 99 Designs so I would in future contests “standard 7 days” duration is what I usually leave it on, but you can pay a bit more to go faster 6. Once the contest is running, you will start getting great designs! Start sharing with your audience! (social media, email, etc.) Rate designs as they come in and give feedback Designers will tweak and resubmit constantly as you hone in on what you like! Use images of what people have done so far and create social media voting images...put ALL the photos you want voted on onto ONE image with “1, 2, 3” or “A, B, C” labels to make it super easy for your audience to vote (don’t upload a bunch of photos into Facebook, for example, and say, “Which do you like best?”...no one wants to click through them and try to describe which they like...it’s confusing and not easy. Make it easy to comment. Canva.com [Start here for $20 off your first design -- https://www.talkable.com/x/NmZf3C ]. This process is very fun and SHOULD be shared with your audience as you go to get them excited about the book even before it’s done and ready! People love to vote and give feedback…and be a part of the journey. It’s great for community engagement, legit feedback, and soft pre-marketing! WHAT'S NEXT?
