Welcome to the modern rebranding of Tudor and a whole new era of Swiss-made watches. Shop pre-owned Tudor watches: https://www.bobswatches.com/tudor/ NAVIGATE THIS VIDEO Rolex’s very own Hans Wilsdorf founded Tudor, and for many years, the brand was positioned as an affordable alternative to the Crown. Wilsdorf’s dream was to make renowned Rolex quality more accessible to a broader range of collectors while protecting the Rolex brand’s value. The solution? Make models unique to Tudor using outsourced movements and various Rolex components such as the Rolex Oyster case and screw-down crown. For a while, the lineup included many watches that were incredibly similar to parent company Rolex, including the similarly-named Tudor Submariner and Prince OysterDate. Tudor stopped selling its wares to the American market sometime in the mid-2000s and didn’t return until 2013, this time with a lineup of heritage watches inspired by timepieces from its past but with a modern flare. This overview discusses the new age of Tudor watchmaking, featuring some of the most popular collections, including the Black Bay, Pelagos, Royal, and 1926. TUDOR BLACK BAY Shop pre-owned Tudor Black Bay watches: https://www.bobswatches.com/tudor/bla... Even novice Tudor collectors will recognize the Black Bay, a vintage-inspired dive watch modeled after vintage Tudor Submariner watches. While they have modern materials, such as sapphire crystal and Super-LumiNova, the Black Bay is influenced by the past. For example, the crown does not have modern guards, and some models even have riveted bracelets and gilt-style dials, which we would expect from a genuine vintage Tudor. The collection has been a massive success and has since grown into a varied collection of different sub-models, including the Black Bay GMT, Black Bay Pro, and Black Bay Chrono. The collection has also been a platform for more experimental metal finishes, such as bronze, ceramic, and even 925 silver. TUDOR PELAGOS Shop Pre-owned Tudor Pelagos Watches: https://www.bobswatches.com/tudor/pel... Tudor released the Pelagos in 2012. Since then, the brand has made a few notable upgrades to the famed titanium dive watch. Initially, the collection had a 42mm case, outsourced ETA movement, and a traditional uni-directional diver’s bezel. In 2015, Tudor upgraded the movement to an in-house caliber. A left-hand model was added a few years later, followed shortly by a 39mm Pelagos and an “FXD” model with fixed lug bars. TUDOR ROYAL Shop Pre-owned Tudor Royal Watches: https://www.bobswatches.com/tudor/roy... To truly understand the Tudor Royal, one must first reference the Rolex OysterQuartz, which was produced for a short while from the late 1970s to the early 2000s. It features an integrated bracelet that is not too unlike watches produced by Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet during the same era but with a quartz movement. The Royal takes inspiration from that watch, even featuring similar Date and Day-Date models, but with either an ETA or Sellita mechanical movement. The luxury sports watch is also distinguished by an engine-turned bezel with alternating fluted and polished textures. TUDOR 1926 Shop Pre-Owned Tudor 1926 Watches: https://www.bobswatches.com/tudor/192... Last but certainly not least is the Tudor 1926, a vintage-inspired mechanical watch that pays homage to classically elegant dress watches from long ago with a similar domed and embossed dial and smiley face text. Tudor gave the watch an outsourced movement, a decision we assume was made to keep the price as affordable as possible for the average collector.
