Throughout the Second World War, there were many different war crimes committed by the different armies involved. Today Lviv in Ukraine is suffering from a new threat, but during World War 2 it was occupied by the Soviets and also the Germans. The city suffered greatly as did the civilians who lived inside. But inside of Lviv, there were deadly pogroms which resulted in the executions and deaths of thousands of people, with the majority of them being Jewish. As the city fell under German occupation, there was a great amount of violence in the city and many targeted Jews as they believed they were collaborating with the enemy. Previously the Soviets had executed thousands of people inside of the prisons, but in Lviv the Einsatzgruppen and German forces carried out more executions. They encouraged violence and many women were attacked throughout the city, as were men and children.
