In Dulci Jubilo - Robert Pearsall - ALTO rehearsal parts See the complete playlist of Choral Rehearsal Parts: • In Dulci Jubilo - Robert Pearsall In Dulci Jubilo by Robert Pearsall, arranged by W. J. Westbrook, is a beloved macaronic (Latin and German/English) Christmas carol that blends Renaissance warmth with Victorian choral richness. In In Dulci Jubilo, Westbrook combines lyrical counterpoint with Pearsall’s gentle harmonic color, creating a setting that is both festive and reverent. Pearsall’s original 1837 arrangement revived the medieval tune, bringing new life to the carol’s joyful character, while Westbrook’s later edition introduced additional refinements that choirs continue to cherish. Robert Lucas Pearsall (1795–1856) was an English antiquarian and composer known for his interest in early music and his beautifully crafted unaccompanied choral works. W. J. Westbrook, a 19th-century organist and arranger, helped preserve and popularize Pearsall’s version through his sensitive editorial work. The lyrics of In Dulci Jubilo date back to the 14th century and celebrate the birth of Christ with vivid imagery of joy, light, and heavenly praise. Lyrics (Latin/English): In dulci jubilo, Let us our homage show; Our heart’s joy reclineth In praesepio, And like a bright star shineth Matris in gremio. Alpha es et O! English Translation: In sweet rejoicing, Now sing and be glad; Our heart’s joy lies In the manger, And like a bright star shines In His mother’s lap. You are Alpha and Omega! #choirparts #rehearsaltrack #choralguide
