This little clarsach harp is stamped on the bottom "Arnold Dolmetsch 10". I don't know when it was made; perhaps by Arnold himself between 1932 and his death in 1940, or by the family firm which continued trading under his name into the 1970s. I got it from Iris Nevins in the USA. It had a bad soundboard crack, and very old tarnished and broken strings. I repaired the crack, and restrung it copying the gauges of old brass wire that were on it. (I carefully preserved the old strings for archive purposes). I am playing here, "Cainc Dafydd Broffwydd", the tune of King David, from the early 17th century Robert ap Huw manuscript of medieval Welsh harp music. I have improvised three variations in the middle. For more info on the Dolmetsch family's investigations of the old harp music, see my pages at http://www.earlygaelicharp.info/dolme...
