Thousands of people marched through central Athens on Monday to mark the 52nd anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic student uprising, with the annual commemoration turning into a large anti-US and anti-NATO demonstration. Students, left-wing groups and members of Greece’s Communist Party carried flags, lit flares and chanted slogans as they moved toward the heavily guarded US Embassy, accusing Washington of supporting the military junta that ruled Greece in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Riot police blocked all access to the compound as demonstrators denounced what they called “imperialist alliances” and demanded Greece’s disengagement from NATO. #tnworld #timesnowworld #worldnews #internationalnews #timesnews #newsworld Subscribe now: http://bit.ly/3VHIl37 Times Now World is your definitive source for comprehensive global news and analysis.
