Warsaw Zoo is quite a famous zoo, due to what the owners did during WW2. By hiding the Jews, and people who escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto were given a place to hide when Germany invaded Poland. The founders of the Zoo were, Antonina Żabińska and her Husband Jan Żabiński. This Zoo supports over 11,000 animals, which cover 500 species. And also sees over 1,000,000 visitors each year.
