Every year, I make it a point to travel abroad. Maybe it’s because I used to live in the UK, but I feel the need to seek out new experiences from overseas regularly. Today, with a cup of coffee in hand, I’ll admire my beloved car and talk to my wife about our trip planned for next spring. What we have so far is a two-week itinerary: a flight from Tokyo to Frankfurt, Germany, and our return flight from Brussels, Belgium, back to Tokyo. From here, we’ll nail down the details: which countries we’ll visit over the two weeks, what activities and foods we’ll try, and where we’ll stay. For me, the most enjoyable part of a trip is the planning stage, which starts about six months in advance. My wife and I sit at a coffee shop, poring over guidebooks and discussing all the possibilities. Sure, it costs money, but it’s a great investment because it gives us half a year of anticipation and excitement. Plus, it puts my wife in a good mood! The trip itself is over in a flash, but you can enjoy the long lead-up to it. Why not try that? I’ll let you know once we finalize the travel details.
