After a bout of fine weather, I was able to shoot this video sequence showing the reckless destruction that occurred due to an unnatural landslip on the eastern slope of Ecclesbourne Glen .. Pride of Hastings Country Park; described in a 2005 BBC diocumentary as one of the "Seven Natural Wonders" of South East England. This video identifies the root cause as construction works associated with a Caravan park "Rocklands Holiday Park" Managed by a Mr & Mrs L Guilliard/Mr & Mrs Gwinnell .. Addressed at Rocklands Lane East Hill Hastings East Sussex TN35 5DY. They state the work was undertaken with local planning consent .. ALL DETAILS OF HERE .. http://publicaccess.hastings.gov.uk/o... There are no signs whatsoever of any Drainage; no pipes, drains .. nothing. Over-sites were set down without footings; and a road was laid down on soft ground, which due to water has flushed from under it, cascading into a man made ditch, during the winter this must have created a swimming pool in the excavated works. An independent view would be hard pushed to assess the destruction of the land below as unintentional. In a conversation I had with 2 individuals claiming to be the owners/managers, who may or may not be either Mr and Mrs Guillard, I was left in no doubt they were oblivious, completely hostile in fact, as regards other users of the Glen outside of the area they have fenced off ( not proven to belong to them) and claimed to own. You will notice in the video a large cast iron Roller [3:41 ++] of the type used to level cricket wickets, sat precariously on the precipice of the broken land, waiting to come down. Such an object could end up anywhere below, including on the beach or in the valley below; may come down at any time and be potentially deadly to any one in its path, not to mention wreak massive destruction as it ploughed through what is left of the Hills trees and bushes. When you are dealing with people whose greed blinds them to, the extent they are prepared to destroy what belongs to all of us, endangering and our children's and our lives and happiness, you have no choice but to show them complete contempt. They are the face of everything wrong with this world; they and the lax officials they have bought. Everywhere their like exist .. which is almost everywhere it seems, Nature and everything precious to right minded people is under threat. Associated Links .. Note the metal fence I circumnavigate at the start was until last year (when the fence was erected there) also a public footpath, centuries old. that fencing is suspiciously like that used to fence off the property that caused the Landslip, suggesting it was the owners of and not the local authority who shut down that path ..
