In Iowa, we're known for our farmland rich in topsoil. The topsoil layer was roughly 5 feet deep in the pond basin location. This layer would be scrapped off with bulldozers and pushed to the back of the property to be used as the back side of the dam and to use later on the top of the dam after it is built to final height.
